Sexual energy is the most powerful spiritual energy that we have. So powerful that back in ancient times people saw it as a path to enlightenment. Subsequent cultures then started to restrict it, perhaps to keep this sacred part of ourselves safe. Perhaps connection to source in the divine was being lost, maybe the world was becoming a much less safe place. Eventually, sexuality was regarded as dirty and sinful.
What originally had attracted deep reverence from ancient people became reviled.
Eventually the drive to liberate our most intrinsic nature became the movement of sex positivity in the 60s.
It was quickly co-opted by porn and the commodification of sexuality.
Today sexuality is shoved in our faces at every opportunity, stripped of its soul and turned into a mere way of numbing the pain and getting off.
Whilst people may talk about how to get more pleasure or consent, how many people are even acknowledging the deep feelings and mechanisms of soul that are involved in a sexual relationship.
Look at heartbreak, and a bad relationship can destroy your life, not even with abuse but just where the feelings are disregarded.
We have not evolved to treat sex casually, and it is not in line with our spiritual nature as spiritual sexual beings.
Not long ago, people were pair bonding for life, but now suddenly we are expected to thrive in a world where this deep part of ourselves suddenly has become reduced to a dry transaction.
No wonder people are bored and numb.
When we start to tune into soul we can see that our sexual energy is the path to opening our consciousness and directly connected to our souls.
This is the first steps of spiritual awakening, and yet to start to undo a lifetime of programming that takes us away from our spiritual-sexual nature is a challenge.
